Turimetta Beach

It has been far too long since that last time I posted. I admit, I have been slack. But after venturing out to the Northern Beaches and getting a taste for it again. I think Ill be posting more often.

I had the great opportunity to head out with Jarrod Castaing on a one on one leason, we covered numerous topics; exposure, composition and some technical details.

It was great to have him around, helping me with see the world around me in a different light.

Let me know what you think.

Glowing Rocks

Another Saturday Sunrise and no colour again. I’m starting to think its a sign. Even without the glowing red sun I still enjoyed the morning. There are always new and exciting spots to visit even if you leave lived there your whole life. It’s funny how you much actually miss in your day-to-day life.

Non event sunrise

Its has been a few weeks since I was able to pick up my trusty 7D and get shooting! I have missed it so much, even with the amount of camera and photo sharing apps available for smart phones, happy snapping on the way to work isn’t the same.

It was certainly a hot day on Saturday reaching mid the mid 30s, higher inland. What better way to start the weekend than watching the sunrise and escaping trying to escape the heat.

The only problem was Saturdays sunrise was a bit of a non event. Alot of cloud cover and no colour what so ever. Never the less, I had alot of fun and released that even as good as soft pillows and sleeping in sounds. Sometimes its worth dragging yourself out of bed.

Much Love

Bondi – Sculpture by the Sea 2012

Its been way too long between shoots. I been in a new job for the past 4 and a bit months and its been a very busy 4 months, Very happy where I am, but missing taking photos however I was so happy to pick up my 7D and enjoy a lovely sunset and some amazing sculptures by the sea. Ive made a new orb tool, which came up quite nicely, I really like the thin lines and it didnt blow out the highlights to much.

I hope you enjoy and always, feel free to comment

Green Hills Storm Front

I tried so hard this afternoon to stop time, I left work and saw this storm from coming from the south, raced home, raced to the beach, all the while composing the shot in my head before I even reach my location. (I always find thinking about a shot before even arriving or checking it before I shot, makes all the difference in the end result) made it just in time for the last 20 minutes of the magic hour. The horizon is a bit blown out, but im happy to deal with that.

Cronulla Sunrise June 22nd 2012

I love spending mornings in bed and often miss the golden hour each day, but I managed to pull my self out of bed this morning and headed down to my local beach. Still chilly but there was a certain warmth in the air, perhaps it was the red sky warming me up. Such wonderful colours.

I think I might have to make a effort and make it a daily event now.

Cliftons Art Prize Exhibition Night

For my first exhibition I am still buzzing from last nights event at Cliftons Art Prize for 2012 It was a night full of great art, music, drinks and wonderful company. Surrounded by friends, family and an amazing group of artists it was a true pleasure to be a part of it.

Walking into the night, I already felt like a winner not even knowing who was going to win. As far as I was concerned I already was.

So many wonderful people enquiring into my photography and concepts, it was great to be able to share my thoughts with everyone!

I didn’t think the night could get any better, but I was wrong, towards the end of the night they announced the people’s choice award where I was in the top 3 and then again to be announced that I was a runner up for this years art prize has blown me away!

I don’t even know what else to say but thank you to all my friends and family, I couldn’t forget to mention Clifton’s Art Prize , but most of all I would have to thank Bianca for the constant support and pushing me to enter this competition.

This is the piece I entered, I hope you enjoy!

Thank you so much

Cliftons Art Prize 2012

Last night, Bianca and I attended a VIP viewing of this years Finalists for the 2012 Cliftons’s Art Prize, I has the privilege of being one of the finalists. I was completely overwhelmed with joy and happiness to be part of this truly amazing art prize.

Upon entering, I couldn’t help but feel I was walking to a fine art museum, my work along the likes of Jane Bennett and Vivian Falk one, who is a past winner of the Cliftons’s Art Prize and one who has been a finalist in the Archibald Prize.

My piece was entitled Dominion. The glowing green orb is offering a chance to revisit some of Sydney’s history. Through use of long exposure photography I find it presents a sense of time standing still and time travel encompassing the scene. The markings of star trail and cloud movements cannot be seen as a whole through the human eye, it is only once the image has been captured does it come together as a keyhole into Sydney’s past.
